“Matthew J. Brightbill plays the Union President, Prez, who is also the factory philanderer. He has the charm and charisma to rally the Union members and sweet talk the factory girls, he's also the best male dancer in the show."
— Rob Dunkelberger, The Stages of MN

“Prez (Matthew J. Brightbill) is the president of the Union Committee, and takes the lead on a very fun song "7 1/2 Cents." He also has a song in Act One named "Her Is" which he sounds great on. I think it is one of those songs that was originally done in front of the curtain to cover a scene change... that being written, it is a great showcase number for a talented singer/dancer which Brightbill uses to his advantage."
-
“I also want to mention Matthew J. Brightbill's performance as Prez, the union leader who also has some extra-curricular activities with the ladies... He's smooth. He has great singing chops, too, and the duet of "Her Is (Reprise)" is fun to watch, even if the syntax hurts your brain."

“Jason Kimmel and Matthew J. Brightbill are a fantastic pair as Bob and Phil, and I really enjoyed watching them perform together. They did a great job of showing the audience the growth of their characters through the show, and they are both incredibly talented singers and dancers."
— Elizabeth James, BroadwayWorld

“Sami Doherty and Matthew J. Brightbill play the roles of Judy Haynes and Phil Davis. They sizzle from the moment Brightbill takes Doherty in his arms for “Best Things,” which incorporates many of the best elements of a Dancing with the Stars freestyle performance including a number of exacting ballroom lifts and stylized drops that would even delight Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli... It's the ivory-on-ebony Act-Two-opening “I Love a Piano” that will have you talking long after the final bows. Amy McCleary's re-imagined tap-centric choreography for “I Love a Piano” delivers the best dance number in a show that boasts many crowd-pleasing numbers "

"The duo of Nolan Montgomery and Matthew J. Brightbill. as Flotsam and Jetsam respectfully, are both played in tandem with such a sinister edge that is all the more enhanced by the razor sharp stage makeup they present in. "

“Matthew Brightbill... provides consistently funny, sharp support work, especially on songs like 'Stayin’ Alive' and 'Dog-Eat-Dog.'"
— Richard Sanford, Columbus Underground

“The camaraderie and restless undercurrents among young men all too aware that they’re “goin’ nowhere” is nicely captured by Luke Bernier (as Double J), Matthew Brightbill (as Gus), Cody Schmid (as troubled Bobby) and Tyler Whiteman (as Joey) in 'Dog-Eat-Dog,' an Abbinanti song that enhances the score and the characters’ frustrations.”
— Michael Grossberg, Columbus Dispatch
